Updated with video of George Takei’s Google Talk and performances from Allegiance.
The presentation starts 21 minutes into the video.
While fans of George Takei patiently wait for his critically acclaimed play Allegiance to find a Broadway venue, they’ll have to settle for the next best thing.
In just a few hours, 10am Pacific and 1pm Eastern Time You Tube will broadcast live an hour with George Takei to talk about the play.
LATEST STORIES
Allegiance made its world premier at San Diego’s famed Old Globe Theater to sold out audiences. The musical starring Takei, Tony-winner Lea Salonga and Telly Leong set box office records. The story focuses on how the incarceration of Japanese Americans and question of loyalty to the country that imprisoned them ripped a family apart.
Today’s showcase on You Tube will feature Telly Leung (RENT, Wicked, Godspell, Glee, Allegiance); Melinda Doolittle (American Idol Season 6 Finalist); Lindsay Mendez (Wicked, Grease, Godspell); Anna Maria Perez (Hannah Montana, Fame, Godspell); Marc de la Cruz (IF/THEN, Allegiance) and many talented others.
Selections will include songs familiar to Allegiance fans, such as the previously recorded Paradise, Higher, and Gaman, as well as the unreleased tuner What Makes A Man, and the World Premiere of Stronger Than Before. After the presentation, the creative team of Allegiance will join me for a Q&A to field questions from the audience. Submit yours here.
While the “Talks at Google” program has featured many notable musicals, Allegiance is the first show to be featured before its Broadway debut and the first to be live-broadcast.
