Doug Ose has conceded to Rep Ami Bera in the District 7 Congressional Race in Sacramento, reports KCRA.
In the latest count, Bera leads by 1432 votes with 92,394 votes. The Associated Press late Wednesday declared the race for Bera.
“It’s been my honor serving this community as a doctor for the last nineteen years, and I am grateful I will have the opportunity to continue serving as the representative for California’s 7th Congressional District in Congress,” Bera said in an emailed statement.
Ose served as the Congressional Representative in the district from 1999 to 2005.
“Let me begin by saying that I celebrate the fact that our institutions and our laws provide us a system whereby elections can be peacefully resolved,” Ose said. “I congratulate Congressman Bera on his victory.”

Bera is currently the only Indian American in Congress. His victory means there are now 12 Asian Americans who will serve as voting members of Congress, a new record. That number does not include two others who are non-voting members from US territories.
