Police in Sacramento, California are investigating the murder of a 17-year old Indian American boy found dead shot in his garage, reports the Sacramento Bee.
Gurnoor Singh is a senior at Inderkum High School and is the sixth teenager killed in Sacramento County this year.

Police say there is no evidence the shooting in the upper middle class neighborhood is gang related.

Loud cries of grief could be heard from family members who had gathered in the backyard. They declined to speak to reporters.

Police are baffled about a possible motive.

“Particularly when you’re dealing with young people, we feel a burden to ensure that their death is not in vain,” said Officer Matthew McPhail. “We feel particularly motivated to find some sort of closure or resolution in the case.”

Trained mental health experts have been sent to Singh’s high school to assist with any students in need.
