SF Magazine: Chinatown Icon Rose Pak Still Not Buried Two Months after Death

Two months after her death,Chinatown leader Rose Pak is not yet cremated or buried, reports SF Magazine.
 
A dispute between her two surviving sisters is apparently the hold up.
 
One sister, Joanna Pak Kish, is considering suing California Pacific Medical Center over Pak’s death, and asked that the body be removed from the cemetery for an autopsy. At one point she considered delaying the funeral, but eventually allowed it to proceed.
 
The other sister, Theresa Pak Wang, wants Pak cremated and interred at Cypress Lawn in Colma.
 
The body was removed from the cemetery after the funeral and returned to Green Street Mortuary where it remains.
 
The whole dispute will be played out tomorrow at a probate hearing over the estate reportedly worth more than $500,000.
 
The autopsy has reportedly been conducted, but the results have not been released.
 
Meanwhile, Wang who wanted a cremation, is now refusing to sign the papers to allow it to proceed.
 
She says she won’t do that until Kish agrees not to sue the hospital.
 
Pak was a major player in San Francisco politics and was known for playing hardball, even with her allies.
 
It appears her sisters are now doing the same.
