A naturalized American citizen from China has pleaded guilty to espionage in a New York courtroom and faces 10 years in prison, reports CNN.
Kun Shan Chun, who also goes by the name of Joey Chun, pleaded guilty to providing sensitive information to someone with connections to the Chinese government.
Chun has worked for the FBI for 19 years and had a top secret clearance.
Prosecutor Preet Bharara said Chun “betrayed our nation.”
“When the perpetrator is an FBI employee, like Kun Shan Chun, the threat is all the more serious and the betrayal all the more duplicitous,” he said.
